PERPETUAL THEOLOGY

BEWARE: Perpetual theology is one of the places where unbelief goes in an attempt to justify itself ... saying ... "While I'm learning about God, I don't have to do what He says."

"Ever learning and never coming to the knowledge of the truth" is NOT a good thing.

Constantly asking ... "Did God really say?" ... Is not a position of faith. It is the position of the serpent at the temptation of man (Ref. Genesis 3:1).

WHERE DID I GET THIS WARNING?

FROM THE HOLY SPIRIT OF GOD AND FROM THE WORD OF GOD.

REF. 2 Timothy 3:1-17 ...

This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; HAVING A FORM OF GODLINESS, BUT DENYING THE POWER THEREOF: FROM SUCH TURN AWAY.

For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, EVER LEARNING, AND NEVER ABLE TO COME TO THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE TRUTH.

Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith. But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as their's also was.
(2 Timothy 3:1-9 KJV)

HERE IS THE RIGHT WAY... THE NARROW ROAD OF FAITH ... FROM THE SAME PASSAGE OF SCRIPTURE.

REF. 2 Timothy 3:1-17 ...

But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience, persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me. Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.

AGAIN WITH THE WARNING...

But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

AGAIN WITH THE RIGHT WAY...

But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; and that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
(2 Timothy 3:10-17 KJV)

TRUE ... STUDY TO SHOW THYSELF APPROVED ...

HOWEVER ... AS SOON AS YOU KNOW WHAT THE WORD SAYS ... DO IT ... AND DON'T LOOK BACK.

Reference scripture on "looking back." It's NOT a good thing in this context.

FINAL EXHORTATION...

To know the will of God, read the Bible.
To do the will of God, do the Bible.

Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you. (Philippians 4:9 KJV)

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
(James 1:22-25 KJV)

God bless you!
